Calvert County Sheriff’s Office

Advisory: Beware of warrant scam

There is currently a phone scam being conducted by a male advising his name is Sgt. Michael Young with the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office & that there is a warrant for your arrest. He is trying to get people to send him money to satisfy the warrant. This is completely FALSE. There is no such officer. We are currently investigating this fraud. The Senate Aging Committee has a toll free hotline to report suspected fraud such as this. They can be reached at 1-855-303-9470.

 Thank You!

The DACCA Board would like to thank all those who responded to our query about whether or not they wanted a used car dealership in Dunkirk.  Unfortunately we were not successful in preventing it since it is allowed in the Dunkirk Master Plan but we were able to limit the maximum number of cars at 10.  Thank you for your input.

Mt. Hope Convenience Ctr Expansion Begins

A $2.6 million expansion project is now underway at the Mt. Hope Convenience Center that will improve traffic flow, increase services and enhance safety at the site.

The 12-month project, overseen by the Calvert County Department of Public Works, will enlarge the center and include new traffic patterns allowing the exchange of full bins without disrupting convenience center users. The center remains at its 96 Pushaw Station Road location in Sunderland.

New features at the center will include covered recycling areas and raised platforms adjacent to the bins affording easier access for offloading. The center will remain open throughout construction, though residents may experience periodic delays as work continues.

The salt dome at the site will be relocated to the area where the current convenience center stands.

Visit online for more information as the project progresses
