Important Meeting

Tuesday, November 14th 630-830pm , Planning and Zoning will hold an open house at the DVFD to present the first draft of the proposed Comprehensive Plan.

Residents are encouraged to attend and ask questions the open house prior to submitting comments in writing. Comments can be submitted during the open houses, or in writing by U.S mail or email no later than Dec. 8, 2017. Submit comments via mail by mailing 150 Main St., Suite 300, Prince Frederick, MD 20678, or via email at pz@calvertcountymd.gov. Review the Calvert County Comprehensive Plan first draft online at www.co.cal.md.us/FutureCalvertFirstDraft

Despite all the assurances at our meetings that no one was trying to put sewer in Dunkirk, see the entry in red below, that we found in the draft. We need to get a clarification of what that means. DACCA members – please come to the meeting. A large turnout will get their attention otherwise we will have to live with what gets passed.

Goal 2: Ensure sufficient wastewater treatment capacity to support development in Town

Objective 1: Manage wastewater system capacity to ensure the systems are able
accommodate new development in Town Centers served by public sewer.
• Continue to update wastewater capacity management plans for all county-owned or operated
sewerage systems.
• Encourage development in the Town Centers provided with public sewage service.
• Implement plans for the expansion of wastewater capacity in Prince Frederick.
• Provide adequate public wastewater treatment facilities to accommodate planned future
development in North Beach, Chesapeake Beach, Prince Frederick, Lusby, and Solomons Town
Centers.
• Be proactive in the development of wastewater collection infrastructure in the Town Centers
served by public sewer systems.
• Permit community or shared water and sewer in Villages and in the Dunkirk Town Center
when needed to support environmental health and/or to support county-identified
economic development goals, when and if cost effective and economically feasible.
• Require septic system to WWTP connections when sewage collection systems are available.

– Hold the date –

The fall DACCA membership meeting will be held on November 29, 2017 at 7pm at the DVFD hall.
Speaker will be Judy Mackall from Planning and Zoning to discuss the Calvert County Planning Commission and their responsibilities. They are an important group as they give recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on:
– proposed new sign regulations
– proposed new Comprehensive Plan for Calvert County
– upcoming Dunkirk town master plan
These 3 documents will affect our lives in the county for years to come.

 Thank You!

The DACCA Board would like to thank all those who responded to our query about whether or not they wanted a used car dealership in Dunkirk.  Unfortunately we were not successful in preventing it since it is allowed in the Dunkirk Master Plan but we were able to limit the maximum number of cars at 10.  Thank you for your input.
